In a land full of architectural masterpieces, is another by the name of Yeraltı Camii. An underground mosque, the rather modest structure attracts locals and tourists alike with its rich history and unique location. Although the time period during which it was built is not certain, it is estimated to be the early 7th Century. It is even rumored to have been a dungeon and a water reservoir before being turned into a mosque and a resting place for three holy figures, believed to be companions of the Prophet Muhammad. Note that the mosque is open to visitors outside of prayer time.
