Dolmabahçe Clock Tower


"Time of Heritage"

Boasting of Ottoman origins, the Dolmabahce Clock Tower is located in Istanbul, just outside the Dolmabahce Palace. Dating back to the end of 19th Century, the clock tower was designed by Sarkis Balyan, who was the court architect. Commissioned by the Ottoman sultan Abdulhamid II, the clock tower is built in the neo-Baroque style of architecture. Standing tall at a height of 27 meters (89 foot), the clock tower hosts a clock that is the work of famous French clockmaker, Jean-Paul Garnier. The clock tower depicts the tughra of Sultan Abdul Hamid II.
