"Architectural Gem"
Semsi Pasha Mosque was built in 1581 by Mimar Sinan for the Grand Vizier of the time, Şemsi Paşa. Considered to be one of Istanbul’s architectural gems, the mosque enjoys a breathtaking location on the shores of the Bosphorus and is located near various attractive picnic spots. it is relatively small in size but what this beautiful mosque lacks in size, it surely makes up for it in its composition and scenic location. The building is interesting because of its location, its beautiful proportions, integrated tomb and its latecomers' porch, which runs along two sides of the mosque instead of one.
