Established in the year 1989, ABC Architectuurcentrum Haarlem was set up to promote and arresting architecture of Haarlem and the Kennemerland region. The center engages different parties including urban planners, architects, policy makers and developers to share a common platform to exchange ideas and opinions. The center hosts several activities, exhibitions, workshops and discussions and targets its efforts to a larger audience, including tourists visiting the city from different parts of the world.

La storia di Anna Frank è conosciuta in tutto il mondo; un'emblematica testimonianza personale dell'olocausto oggi conservata nella Casa di Anna Frank. Anna si nascose con la sua famiglia il 6 luglio 1942, forzata dall'occupazione tedesca dei Paesi Bassi e dalla conseguente persecuzione della comunità ebraica. Nel corso di due anni, Anna tenne un diario che descriveva la vita nell'alloggio segreto e che fu poi pubblicato dal padre. Anche se non sono rimasti molti ricordi, i filmati e altre fonti, tra cui il diario di Anna, offrono una ricostruzione vivida della vita a quei tempi. Il museo è stato inaugurato il 3 maggio 1960 e l'enorme centro visitatori è stato costruito negli anni Ottanta.
Prof. Dr. Max Euwe was the best chess player The Netherlands has ever known. He became world champion in 1935. This center, dedicated to Max Euwe himself and to the importance of his work for the world of chess, was opened in 1982. Many internationally-acclaimed artists have performed at Paradiso, formerly a church. It features a spacious dance floor and a balcony offering excellent views of the surrounding balustrade. Every week, this venue hosts different bands in action, from regional musicians to world-famous artists like the Rolling Stones. Occasionally, the stage on the first floor is reserved for smaller indie bands that draw an eclectic crowd of locals and tourists.
