This is New Zealand's only licensed men's fashion store--yes, this means they can, and do, serve alcohol. As you may expect, the standards of quality and service are very high. It is a large store, full of such items as suits, shirts, ties, trousers, belts, cuff links and tiepins. Since 1930 they have been helping to make Auckland men look pretty good, and that tradition looks set to continue for a while yet. Despite all of this, their prices remain very reasonable--especially on suits.
As a fairly new building the Atrium offers the best in ambiance and facilities, including escalators, lifts and a magnificently decorated dome over head. There is a range of exclusive shops for fashion and sports clothing, shoes, books, gifts, homeware and more. You will find Max, Sussan, George Harrison, Amazon, and more. The food hall on the ground floor is an excellent if rather busy place. One hour's free parking with a shopping receipt is available in the Crowne Plaza Hotel parking building, entrance off Albert Street.
Marbecks is THE place to go for music and recordings in Auckland! There are several shops tucked away down Queen's Arcade offering everything from a large selection of classical music, to pop, rock, jazz, folk, ethnic, world music, trendy and traditional music. One of the shops specializes in videos, DVD and Playstation titles. The staff is a mine of information, and offers friendly and helpful service.
This is the store for items with a nautical theme. The store though is cosy, warm and inviting. There are prints, paintings, framed art, posters, ties, tea-towels, sextants which really work, replica nautical memorabilia, key rings and hats. There is a large variety of model ships, from tiny ones in little bottles to over a metre in length--all are intricate in detail.
