L'espansione della città nel diciannovesimo secolo ha significatola fine delle mura medioevali e le sue sette entrate. Tuttavia, la piu' bella di queste porte, lo Spalentor,e' rimasta intatta. Costruita nel XIV secolo, questa porta possiede un meravilgiosa inferiata di rovere. All'interno si trova una copia del decreto della dogana della citta', del 1795. Il cancello è ornato con le belle mattonelle di vetro e le buffe figure del XV secolo. Gli originali possono essere osservati nel Museo della Storia.

Il Reno

Il Reno è uno dei fiumi più importanti della Svizzera e anche delle nazioni vicine. Fortified Church of St. Arbogast

Located in the heart of Muttenz, the Fortified Church of St. Arbogast is a nationally significant heritage site and a popular tourist attraction of the historic town. Dating back to the late Middle ages, the church is unique with respect to its architecture as its fortified wall ramparts are the only of its kind found in the country. The church today consists of a remarkable clock tower, a charnal house and a beautifully maintained lawn garden. A definite must visit for architecture and history enthusiasts.

Cathedral of St. Urs and Viktor

The Cathedral of St. Urs and Viktor, also known as the Solothurn Cathedral is a magnificent church in Solothurn, Switzerland. The impressive structure makes it a landmark of the Swiss city and a Swiss heritage site of national significance. It was built using the light-colored Solothurn marble during the neoclassical period. One unique feature of this cathedral is that it is full of Solothurn’s magic number 11. As in, it has 11 altars, 11 bells, a 66 feet high tower, and so on. It is one of the most visited sites in Switzerland.

Fridolinsmünster is a magnificent historic church which dates back to the 11th Century. The first church at this spot was built in the Romanesque style after which came a Gothic and then a Baroque model. Despite having been reconstructed, the church still holds some of the features of each architectural style with a Gothic nave, a Romanesque entryway and a Baroque facade and interior. Of note, while visiting this church are the beautiful frescoes on the ceiling, which were painted by a famous 18th Century artist, the shrine of St. Fridolin, the high altar and the beautiful church organ.

Reichenstein Castle (Arlesheim)

Located in the midst of dense woodlands on the outskirts of Arlesheim, the Reichenstein Castle is a well preserved medieval heritage site and a historical landmark of the region.
