The Rose F. Kennedy Greenway is a wonderful stretch of modern parks that spans across a mile and a half (2.41 kilometers) in South Boston. These parks are interconnected through a tunnel called the Big Dig. The greenway includes fountains, gardens, public spaces and promenades. The series of parks that are a part of The Rose F. Kennedy Greenway are North End Parks, Fort Point Channel Parks, Wharf District Parks, Chinatown Park, Armenian Heritage Park and Dewey Square Park.
At the beginning of the 20th Century, heiress and philanthropist Isabella Stewart Gardner built a home modeled after a 15th-century Venetian palace. Gardner was a great patroness of famous artists such as James Whistler and John Singer Sargent. She also acquired European masterpieces, and her palace is now a museum filled with works by Titian, Matisse, Rembrandt, and Raphael. The courtyard of the museum is a lush oasis filled with beautiful plants and flowers.
