This splendorous theater looks like a cathedral and is the stage for top class performing arts. These include Broadway shows, musicals, drama, dance and more. It also boasts to have one of the biggest stages in the nation.
Boch Center situated in the heart of Boston is the city's premier entertainment venue. This performing arts venue comprises of Wang Theater and Shubert Theater that has the capacity to seat 3500 and 1500 audiences respectively. The Wang Theater, that first opened in 1925, is a part of the prestigious National Register of Historic Places and has been since the last many decades entertaining the residents of the city with film screenings, musicals, operas, theatrical productions, dance and comedy shows among many others. Boch Center gained managing and operating rights of Shubert Theater in 1996 and has since then been successful in hosting numerous local, as well as, touring theater companies.
Built in 1908, Shubert Theatre has a long history of staging quality dramatic productions. It is home to the Boston Lyric Opera and is a stop for touring dramatic companies. Past productions include The King and I, Mame and South Pacific. The 1600-seat theater underwent a massive renovation project in 1996. This theater is beautiful and its small size means excellent acoustics.
An architectural masterpiece that has existed since 1910, the magnificent Georgian-revival-style Hampshire House overlooks the blissful Boston Public Garden. The mansion was designed by renowned architect Ogden Codman who ensured that it sports elegant Palladian windows, exquisite marble floors, elaborate chandeliers, and hand-carved oak panels. Originally owned by Bayard Thayer, he sold the property to the owner of the Lincolnshire Hotel, Thomas A. Kershaw in 1969. The mansion has overseen a multitude of special occasions since then.
A highly rated comedy venue where up-and-coming comedians can hone their craft, this club has been a mainstay in a good local comedy scene. While they may lack the touring headliners that perform at other clubs, you can certainly count on getting your share of laughs at this fun spot. Ticket range depends on the performance. Just like the theater's main stage, the space is equipped to host top-notch plays and is regularly witness to acclaimed stalwarts from the theater scene.
