The Parker Tavern is a great historic landmark in the city of Reading. This landmark is open from May to October only on Sundays. Since this site served as a Tavern during the mid seventeenth century, it came to be known as Parker Tavern. Parker Tavern is also listed in the National Register of Historic places for being a fantastic old structure.
Parson Capen House is a beautiful landmark located in the heart of Topsfield. The structure of this historic spot bears resemblance to several homes in England mainly because of its English style architecture. Being a well preserved site, this house features in the list of the National register since it was considered to be the best house in town during the late seventeenth century. This notable architecture is only from June to September and the admission is free of cost.
Located on 159 Brattle Street, the Hooper-Lee-Nichols House is an iconic Colonial American-era house in Cambridge. Recognized as the second oldest house in Cambridge, the house was built in 1685 by Richard Hooper as a First Period-era farmhouse. Enlisted into the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, this key literary landmark attracts thousands of tourists from all over the US every year. Designed by noted architect, Joseph E. Chandler, the house has been refurbished and remodeled several times since its construction. It currently serves as the headquarters of the Cambridge Historical Society.
Built in 1730, the Crowninshield–Bentley House served as the residence of the Crowninshield family for more than four generations. After the death of the patriarch Captain John Crowninshield, the property was divided between his wife and son with a part of the house being converted into a guesthouse. Today, the building functions as a house museum, inviting visitors for tours around the house.
The Old House at Peacefield is a part of the Adams National Historical Park. The house is a beautiful landmark that served as a residence to several generations of the Adams family. This landmark is one of the three residences of the Adams family. Built during the seventeenth century, this house includes a formal garden and a historic orchard that is styled as per the eighteenth century. This Historic estate can be visited only from April to November. The place is accessed only via guided tours and not self tours.
Shepherd Brooks Estate is a fine example of 19th-century architectural works. It is one of the oldest historical places to survive as a masterpiece. The mansion was used for different purposes during various decades. In the 1960s the house was used as a residence for the wonded war survivors, it was later used as a hospital for the veterans. In 1980s the mansion was used to admit mentally challenged individuals. A tour to this historic villa is a must as it offers patrons scenic view of the pristine pond, flower gardens and some Victorian artifacts like shepherd's carriage.
