One of the city's most popular Thai restaurants, King and I eatery offers a variety of Thai cooking styles, with food ranging from sweet to mild to blazing hot. The extensive menu offers something for virtually every taste. Even vegetarians will find plenty to satisfy themselves. The duck with rice comes highly recommended, but you will also want to try the Pad Thai, the national dish of Thailand, if you prefer noodle dishes. For an appetizer, try the tempura-battered shrimp, squid and crab. Both American and Asian beers are on tap to quench your thirst.
As soon as the waitress hands you the menu, the comforting realization strikes: dinner will be under 10 bucks! Thai Country Café has an easy, country feel with authentic Thai food and a genuine and knowledgeable staff. The menu is so extensive that an initial visit may bode stressful if decision making isn't a strong suit. Furthermore, any entrée can be tweaked as desired: meat dishes can be vegetarian, mild dishes can be extra spicy, and shrimp can be fish balls. This quaint eatery is small, so it gets pretty hectic during holidays and special events. Still, the quality and quantity far outweigh the price.
Located in the bustling Delmar Loop, Thai Gai Yang Cafe is known for its fresh, authentic, inexpensive, and delicious Thai cuisine. The atmosphere is laid back and the service is incredibly friendly and personable. Their menu includes noodle, veggie, fish, pork, chicken, and rice dishes. Among the other Thai restaurants, Thai Gai Yang stands out because of their appetizers. The fried calamari melts in your mouth and their spring rolls are delectable. Try any number of their decadent wines, such as the sweet, mild plum wine. Top it off with a rich, creamy Thai iced coffee. No one leaves this restaurant without a full stomach and a smile.
The family-owned and operated Rearn Thai Restaurant is not one of the most popular Thai food spots in St. Louis, but locals don’t mind that the populous hasn’t caught on yet. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Furthermore, as with many Thai restaurants, several options are available for vegetarians, pescatarians, vegans, and the health conscious. The atmosphere is relaxed, simple, and all about the food. Although the traffic at Rearn is relatively low, the patio fills up quickly during warmer months. Reservations may be in order to secure outdoor seating.
