Located on a rocky plain, near the mouth of River Thames, Fort Trumbull was used as part of the defense system until after colonial times. Today, it serves as a popular tourist attraction with a huge state park surrounding the magnificent fort. Once inside, one can find cannon, artillery, gun and crew display, a mock library and more. A visit to the fort and park would take the entire day, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
