Altstadt is the historic center of the former municipality Rapperswil which is now Rapperswil-Jona. This old town is on the shores of the Lake Zurich and is a lovely place to explore for its many architectural gems and historical sites. These include Schloss Rapperswil, Kloster Rapperswil, Fischmarktplatz, Engelplatz, Rathaus, Pfarrkirche St. Johann, Stadtmuseum Rapperswil and Seedamm. This quaint area also has many restaurants and shops.

È più piacevole la parte del distretto 4 dall'altra parte della ferrovia. Qui si possono trovare dei bar simpatici come il Sansibar e il Liquid ma anche super ristoranti come l'Exer.
