More than a concert hall, the DR Koncerthuset is a stunning masterpiece designed by the very talented and eccentric French fiend, Jean Nouvel. The deep cobalt blue facade of the concert hall gives the impression of merging with the sky, and the partly translucent screen reflects the clouds and current weather conditions. Home of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, this performance venue features four concert halls, each with a distinct architectural style. To add to the uniqueness of the venue, the engineering of acoustics in the venue is top-notch. Brainchild of expert Yasuhisa Toyota, the acoustics alter themselves to complement the genre of performance being held.
Historically, St. Peter's Church is the main house of worship in Malmo and is one of the largest in all of southern Sweden. Built in the 14th Century, this Gothic church is one of the oldest surviving structures in the city. The magnificent edifice has striking architectural details, with an imposing spire that rises 105 meters (344 feet), dominating the skyline in the area. Inside, the church has been shaped by centuries as a beloved place of worship, marked by the successive generations who have sought spiritual nourishment amid these storied walls. The lofty ceilings shelter a gilded altar from the 17th Century, an ornate pulpit, and monumental organ alongside a whole host of ecclesiastical artwork and historic treasures left behind by devout patrons. Look beyond the main altar and you'll find medieval frescoes that predate the 16th-century Reformation, a votive ship in the south aisle, and epitaphs commemorating those buried here. The church has an active congregation and is the site of community gatherings, concerts and, of course, regular worship services.
