Horto Florestal Tote Garcia was conceived in 1939 for horticultural research and to find better ways to increase the region's green cover. Managed by the municipality since 1953, the facility is named after the renowned Brazilian composer Tote Garcia. Visitors to the park can admire the rich diversity of native plant life, that spans close to 15 hectares (37.07 acres). Besides this, the facility has a plant nursery showcasing the agencies research efforts. Tours of the facility are available, and school groups are welcome with prior appointment.
