A sizable stretch of green, in the Cape Cod region, Nickerson State Park is a must visit for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike. Covering a massive 1,967 acres (796 hectares) this state-owned park is peppered with sandy soil, scrub pines and a number of kettle ponds that make it one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems in the area. Featuring numerous hiking trails, trek routes, campgrounds and fishing areas, this is also one of the hot-spots for outdoor activities and nature tours.

Cape Cod Museum of Natural History

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History's main objective is to make people more aware of the environment and their surroundings. The museum is divided into two floors dedicated to the flora and fauna of the region which includes exhibits on whales, birds, reptiles and amphibians found in the region. There is a library for extra research and a shop where you can find souvenirs to remind you of the environment around you. The museum also holds various activities to provide a learning experience for children as well as adults! Admission and open hours vary seasonally.

Cape Cod National Seashore

Dichiarata zona protetta dal Governo degli Stati uniti nel 1961, i circa 18,000 ettari di costa del Cape Cod National Seashore offrono meravigliose viste e uno sguardo nella natura e nella storia di questa zona. Il parco ha sei spiagge dove si può nuotare, percorsi naturalistici, aree pic-nic, laghetti di acqua dolce, antichi fari e residenze in stile locale. Il parco è perfetto per una gita in giornata, ma se volete fermarvi ci sono vari resort, alberghi e motel, ma nessuno sulla spiaggia.

Highland Lighthouse

Famously known as the Cape Cod Light, the Highland Light is an active lighthouse and also said to be the tallest and oldest lighthouse on Cape Cod. The lighthouse is accessible to the public from May through October- tours are available too, while the grounds can be visited throughout the year. This lighthouse occupies a spot on the National Register of Historic Places as the Highland Light Station.

Cape Cod Rail Trail

Anche se chiamata pista ciclabile, questo sentiero pavimentato va bene anche per camminare, correre, andare a cavallo o con i rollerblade. Quando c'è la neve (raramente) si può usare anche per fare sci di fondo. Costruito sopra una vecchia ferrovia, questo panoramico sentiero lungo 40 chilometri porta da Dennis a Wellfleet passa attraverso stagni di mirtilli rossi, laghi e paesini. Il Nickerson State Park, in Brewster vicino alla Route 6, si occupa della manutenzione del sentiero e si trova a metà strada sula tragitto. Visitate il sito per mappa, aree di sosta e punti d'accesso.

Race Point Beach

Provincetown è stata recentemente dichiarata la sesta migliore destinazione balneare degli Stati Uniti, ed il drammatico Race Point potrebbe essere una delle ragioni. Qui le acque della baia di Cape Cod incontrano quelle mosse dell'Oceano Atlantico, creando onde belle grosse chiamate "the race". Pericoloso per le barche piccole, non c'è da stupirsi che qui si trova il Race Point Lifesaving Museum (museo del salvataggio). Ma in alta stagione è ben controllato, c'è uno stabilimento e tutto sommato è un bel posto per prendere il sole e nuotare. Spesso è molto ventoso, aumentando la sensazione di essere affacciati sul mare alla fine del mondo.

Monomoy Point Lighthouse

The Monomoy Point Light is a historic lighthouse located at the Monomoy Island. It was initially built as a wooden tower in 1823 but was later reconstructed as a cast iron structure in 1849. Spread across an area of 4 acres (1.6 hectares), the light was functional until 1923. Time has not taken a toll on this structure as the lighthouse has been preserved well. Open to the public, tours of the lighthouse are conducted, where the visitors can get acquainted with the light's history and the scenic views it has to offer.

The West Barnstable station can easily date its history back to the 1900s. The artifacts and exhibits of this place take you back in time as the building still has maintained all the original woodwork and furniture from when it was constructed in 1911. The ticketing office still has maintained some of the original equipment from that era. Many events and festivals are organized here celebrating and supporting the railroad history.

Benjamin Nye Homestead

Benjamin Nye Homestead was built in 1678 and served as the residence of Benjamin Nye. The house was initially built in the shape of a saltbox and later renovated into a two storied structure in the 18th century. It is one of the oldest standing houses in the region and has on display 18th century furnishings and artifacts from the Victorian and Colonial period. They also have on display the entire genealogy of the Nye family and the building was registered under the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
