Spread across 93 hectares (229.81 acres), Confederation Park is nestled on the Lake Ontario shoreline. It features a beach, trails, a splash pad, swimming pool, basketball and volleyball courts, a go cart track and a recreation building. It is also home to the popular Adventure Village.
The Sherman Falls also known as Angel Falls and Fairy Falls is a picturesque site. Be it winter or summer, the area is always abuzz with visitors owing to its stunning locale and serene surroundings.
Part of the Tiffany Falls Conservation Area, the cascading beauty of the namesake falls is one of Hamilton's best natural attractions. Named after the first doctor of Hamilton, Dr. Oliver Tiffany, these high ribbon falls connect the Niagara Escarpment to the emerald beauty of the Dundas Valley. Hikers can take the Bruce Trail, an easy walk with well-groomed pathways, to get to the waterfall. The falls are best visited during the spring, although several professional ice climbers find the frozen beauty of the winter a preferable time to visit.
The Mount Nemo Conservation Area is best known for its hiking trails and is frequented by rock climbing enthusiasts. Apart from that, even nature lovers like to explore this scenic locale and enjoy the lovely landscape.
Shade's Mills Park (GRCA) is a well-preserved stretch of hardwood forests with winding trails, a lake fit for canoeing, boating and fishing and a cross-country trail for snowshoeing and skiing in the winter months. You can book the picnic grounds for a huge family picnic or an outing from your workplace. You can even come alone and spend hours hiking, biking or fishing for pike, bass and yellow perch or ice-fishing in the winter. The park also has facilities for disc golf and volleyball.
Through interactive shows and hands-on experiences, Little Ray's Reptile Zoo encourages visitors to really get to know the incredible creatures that live here. The zoo is home to an amazing collection of reptiles from around the world, including rare species like Cuban boas and the Cayman Blue Rock iguana. Shows and feeding demonstrations are organized throughout the day, alongside hands-on experiences that give you an opportunity to play with and feed snakes, lizards, turtles, tarantulas and other amazing creatures. Through these and many other educational programs, Little Ray hopes to cultivate a deeper understanding of and appreciation for these mysterious creatures, and do away with the myths that lead many to shy away from them. While a trip to Little Ray's is sure to be an especially rewarding experience for kids, the zoo's many attractions appeal to grown-ups as well.
