Built between 1911 and 1912, this dam was a notable project of hydraulic engineering. Nestled west of the Mississippi River, the dam commands much importance as one of the largest of the country. Its waters nourishing the farmlands of Blackland Prairie and a plant of the Medina River, the dam features a delightful recreational reservoir called the Medina Lake. The dam has found a place on the National Register of Historic Places due to the major influence it has had on the area since its construction, spurring the founding of the town of Mico. Medina Dam has established itself as not just an engineering marvel, but also an indelible historic landmark of Texas.
The UTSA Main Gallery hosts exhibitions that feature artwork created by the university's students and faculty, alongside juried exhibitions as well. The gallery is located in the Art Building of the Main 1604 Campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio, and is a must see for those who enjoy discovering new artists. The artwork displayed at the university's Main Gallery often presents a fresh, new perspective on the world, created by a new generation of artists at the very beginning of their careers.
