The restaurant terraces are open all day for alfresco meals in summer. Parking is free for the first hour.

This three-story shopping center in the center of Madrid provides a relaxed atmosphere and elegant surroundings in which to make your purchases. The impressive building used to house the offices of right-wing newspaper ABC, hence the name. You can enter from Calle Serrano or Paseo de la Castellana and wander through the fashion boutiques and gift shops. Fashion clothing outlets include Musgo and Musgo Bebés, Boch, Zara, Doble Aa and Minority. There are two hairdressing salons, a wine merchant's and several jewelry stores. On the attractive rooftop terrace there is a restaurant and a bar that stays open every night during summer until dawn.

This Catalan designer's boutique has two floors displaying mainly casual, sporty clothes. You'll find sweaters, skirt and trouser suits, blouses and waistcoats. You'll also see some nice handkerchiefs and belts. There's another branch in the ABC Shopping Center on Calle Serrano, 61. The one in Conde de Xiquena is near fashionable Calle Almirante.

You're certainly spoilt for choice here, where you'll find party handbags, big handbags and small ones, brightly colored bags, geometric shapes and so on. Prices vary depending on the size, brand and material (leather, plastic or cloth). The shop also stocks hats, shawls by Armani and other famous brands, plus designer costume jewelry. This is a general accessories shop, but the handbags are really what to come for.

This place sells second-hand records and tapes at ridiculously low prices. You'll see bands you've never heard of, but you might just pick up a bargain. And you have to be prepared to sort through their jumbled collection first.
