Schleißheim Court Garden is among the rare Baroque gardens which still retains its original glory. Henrico Zuccalli designed it in 1684 with a vast canal system and bosquet. While Dominique Girard laid out the parterre and water feature between 1717 through 1726. This beautiful landscaped garden fell into disrepair and was rebuilt by Carl von Effner to its former glory for King Ludwig I. It was one of the many casualties of the World War II bombings and the restoration process took a long time. A visit to this place will remind you of its glorious past and majestic landscape.

The Olympic tower at Olympiapark is the tallest building in Munich, just a little shorter than the Eiffel tower. Built by the civic council in 1965-68 for the 1972 Olympics, it provides the best view of the city and surrounding area and in good weather, it is possible to see as far as the Alps. The Olympiaturm restaurant beneath the viewing platform is open from 11a-5p and 6:30p-midnight. Apart from providing a stunning view, this rotating restaurant also serves very good dishes from around the world at reasonable prices.

Ammersee, a beautiful lake about 35 kilometers (21.74 miles) south-west of Munich, is a favorite weekend refuge for city folk. Its location, between two tree-covered mountains, is idyllic and is perfect not just for swimming, but also for hiking, rowing, sailing and fishing. It is well worth treating yourself to a trip on the steamer. The nearby Klostergasthof Andechs attracts hoards of visitors with its delicious beer and historic monastery. You could round off the day in one of the traditional bars or restaurants in Diessen or nearby town of Herrsching.

With more than 4000 paintings on display, the Neue Pinakothek (New Picture Gallery) is regarded as one of Europe's most important museums of art from the 19th Century. Established in 1853, the original building was destroyed during World War II. The new building, designed by Alexander von Branca and opened in 1981, is the perfect backdrop for works by French realists and impressionists (Manet, Monet, Degas) and English and German landscape artists. Temporary exhibitions are also organized on a regular basis. The museum shop is particularly good.

The former Kleinen Komödie am Max II was transformed into this fantastic GOP theater in 2008. The GOP Varieté-Theater München is a venue in the city, well known for the variety of enthralling concerts held here. They have some of the best artists performing in their theater, thus offering guests sheer entertainment. GOP group has theaters in other locations too.
