Keeping the island's history alive is the goal of the Nantucket Historical Association. Many of the museums and historical sites on Nantucket fall under the NHA's umbrella, which makes it an excellent place to start when taking a tour of the island. Purchase a membership to receive admission to all of the NHA's sites and immerse yourself in the island's past. Individual memberships provide far more benefits other than just museum entrance fees.

Edgartown was founded in 1642, and was the first colonial settlement on the island of Martha's Vineyard. By the mid-1800s, the town was ranked per capita as one of the wealthiest communities in the country. During that time, whaling and merchant captains built the beautiful Greek Revival homes that can still be found all over town. Edgartown continues to maintain its elegance with many luxurious inns, boutiques, and restaurants. It is also a beautiful island town with several beaches and wildlife preserves nearby. Popular attractions include Edgartown Harbor Light, Cape Poge Wildlife Refuge, and Joseph Sylvia State Beach.
The Old Whaling Church, named as such because it was built by whaling captains in 1843, is the perfect location for a vineyard wedding. With spectacular views and Greek revival architecture, the Old Whaling Church is a sight to be seen. This old Edgartown gem can accommodate up to 500 guests in the main church and 150 guests in the lower-level Frederick Baylies Room.
