Located in the Essonne department of France in the township of Bouray-sur-Juine is the Château de Mesnil-Voisin. This French castle was once a stunning structure in the town and was commission by Michel Villedo. The castle is replete with ornate tiles and ceiling chandeliers along with hosting a kitchen, workshop, coach house and orangery. The courtyard of this building also houses a pigeon building called as a dovecote. The movable staircase in this old building is still intact along with its conical roof.
The Palais' construction was commissioned in 1615 by princess regent Marie de Médicis, who bought the Duke of Luxembourg's private mansion and entrusted architect Salomon de Brosse with its transformation into a royal palace. The inspiration for its Renaissance style came from Tuscany, Marie de Médicis' birthplace; it remained royal property under the reign of Louis XIV (who raised his children here) and then became a prison under the 18th Century Convention (France's short-term, post-Revolution government). During the Second World War it was used by the German Luftwaffe (Air Force) as their headquarters. Today, it is home to the Sénat (upper house of the French parliament) and its garden (Jardin du Luxembourg) is one of Paris' favorites. The Musée du Luxembourg is nearby.

This project was given in 1926 to Paul Tournon, chief architect of Civil Buildings and National Palaces. The crypt was opened in 1929. It served as a temporary chapel until the end of the building works in 1935. Paul Tournon was inspired by Saint Sophia of Constantinople and used reinforced concrete for the dome s building which was a real achievement for the time. The decoration, carried out by Sacred Art workshops, used the greatest contemporary artists such as Maurice Denis, Nicolas Untersteller and Elizabeth Branly for paintings, Carlo Sarrabezolles for sculptures, and Marcel Imbs for the crypt s mosaic and stained glass windows: they recount the church history, from the 2nd to the 20th Century.
