With roots dating back to 1686, Church of St. Leonhard is one of the oldest churches in Dietramszell. A fine example of the Baroque architectural style, its cream-colored facade blends seamlessly with its peaceful surroundings and is quite an arresting vision during winter when surrounded by a pristine white landscape. Hidden behind the relatively demure exterior lies a space that is richly adorned with rococo style embellishments. The ceiling is resplendently adorned with colorful frescoes and the striking triumphal cross is also quite noteworthy. The church frequently hosts choral and classical concerts.
The Bavarian Alps making a formidable background, Heuwinklkapelle with its big red onion dome and turrets presents a pretty picture. Built in the 18th Century by Johann Schmuzer, considered to be one of the pillars of Wessobrunn architecture, this chapel though compact in size, is an excellent precedent of the Wessobrunn design. Decked up with ornate Baroque stucco, votive tablets and oil paintings, the chapel has been a place of pilgrimage since it was erected.
St. Salvator und Hl. Kreuz is one of the most ornate churches of the region. The facade of this 15th-century church is rather modest, completed with a bell tower, however its interior is replete with several artistic gems. The hall is bathed in an angelic white tint with arched ceilings adding to the place's visual allure. The altar is embellished with stucco work dipped in a golden hue and intricately done paintings further add a spellbinding touch to Rococo setting.
A structure that dates back to the 18th Century, St. Georg Church's first role was that of a monastery parish. Built under the guidance of Johann Georg Ettenhofer, a talented mason, the bright yellow exterior of the church makes it impossible to miss on the Kirchberg. Its interior is replete with spellbinding Stucco work and it is further decorated with frescoes. The church's main altar is its yet another masterpiece that is ornamented with sculptures and intricately done paintings.
St. Peter und Paul is a Baroque church that is believed to have existed since the 17th Century, however its choir as well as the foundation of its tower can be traced back to the 15th Century. A vaulted ceiling accentuates the interior of the church which is also home to a historic water basin that has the Coat of arms of the Counts of Toerring embossed on its surface. Considered to be among the significant pilgrimage sites in the region, Wallfahrtskirche Vilgertshofen is Greek cross shaped sanctuary. Built in the 17th Century by Johann Schmuzer, one of the founders of the Wessobrunner School, this ornate Baroque church with Rococo features is indeed a masterpiece of stucco work. These include the altarpiece depicting the stoning of St Stephen and the fresco of Jesus' Crucifixion. There are also 36 paintings on the ceilings showcasing the life of Mary which are beautiful.
