Galerie d’art inuit Brousseau et Brousseau

Galerie d’art inuit Brousseau et Brousseau, in Quebec's Vieux-Quebec neighborhood, was established by Raymond Brousseau in 1974. This gallery was where Brousseau could showcase his collection of sculptures by local artists, that he has been accumulating since 1956. In 1999, he opened the adjoining space as the The Brousseau Museum of Inuit Art. The Hydro Quebec Room is a permanent zone that showcases the original collection by Raymond Brousseau. Beautifully crafted sculptures by local Inuit artists, mainly revolving around their culture and beliefs, comprise the artworks on display at both these galleries.

Grand Théâtre de Quebec

Quebec City's modern Grand Théâtre de Quebec stands in stark contrast to the venerable beauty of the Palais Montcalm, which it effectively replaced. Built in the mid-1960s, the home of the Quebec Symphony Orchestra and L'Opéra de Québec does have its own charm, however. The Salle Louis-Fréchette seats spectators in a classic four-tier arrangement, while the Salle Octave-Crémazie is a more intimate option with fewer seats. With a huge annual program befitting a first-class, multi-use facility, any visitor with an interest in the arts is likely to find himself or herself, enjoying at the Grand.

Beauchamp and Beauchamp Art Gallery

The Beauchamp and Beauchamp Art Gallery is a gem in the collection of art galleries, established by art enthusiastic couple, Marc and Claudette Beauchamp. Following the success of Galerie d'art Royale, their first gallery established in 1993, the Beauchamps were motivated to open the doors to Galerie d’art Beauchamp et Beauchamp a few years later. This gallery offers a platform to promote Canadian artists. Contemporary and classic artworks can be perused here. The varied themes, ranging across landscapes, portraits, animals, abstract and more, are sure to appeal to the discerning art lover.

Promenade Samuel-De Champlain

Skirting the Saint Lawrence River, this 2.5 kilometer (1.55 mile) stretch is one of the most picturesque recreational spaces in the city. Besides refreshing views of the meandering river, the beautifully laid-out promenade offers numerous delightful experiences from lush woodlands for nature lovers to play areas for the sports enthusiasts. Worth a special mention is the Station des Quais, a series of gardens showcasing artistic interpretations of the great river. Opened in 2008, the promenade has garnered wide acclaim and numerous awards for its design, and has become one of the most popular public spaces in the city.

Galerie Perreault

If you wish to peruse beautiful artworks by local Canadian artists, the head over to Galerie Perreault, nestled in the heart of historic Quebec. Professional artists delving in contemporary and fine arts are well represented at this gallery. The walls of the gallery are covered in subtle hues of brown and beige, that enable to bring out the vibrant colors of the paintings. Madeline Lemire, Anne Marrec, Michel Pleau and Benoit Simard are some of the many artists, whose works have been displayed here. The gallery also has a second location, a few blocks away, at côte de la Montagne street.

Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

The grand Château Frontenac is not only the most recognizable feature of the Quebec City skyline, it holds the Guinness World Record for being the "most photographed hotel in the world". Perched on a hill overlooking St. Lawrence River, the monumental chateau-style hotel was custom built in 1893 for the Canadian Pacific Railway as a luxury resort. The original hotel was designed by Bruce Price and completed by William Sutherland Maxwell who added the iconic central tower in 1924. Although not the tallest, Château Frontenac dominates the city skyline with its peculiar silhouette; an undeniably exalted example of Victorian Architecture. The hotel is now the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, featuring over 600 guestrooms of varying sizes, each luxuriously appointed and many offering incredible views over the St Lawrence River.
