This venue for arts, born in 1913 CE, was then the largest theater in the city. Now managed by the Arts Center Enterprises, Inc. (who also manage the Majestic Theatre), it has been renovated with an elegant decor. Creative architectural designs have been incorporated and the adjustable main floor gives scope to various seating arrangements. It is an ideal venue to host events, such as seminars and conferences, besides performing arts events. The Woodlawn Lake Park is a scenic park that has great recreational facilities as well. Established in 1918, it features a huge man-made lake, gym, basketball and tennis courts, swimming pool, lighthouse, sport fields, picnic tables, playground and restrooms. This 62 acres (25.09 hectares) greenery also has a 1.3 mile (2.09 kilometers) walking trail and is a popular fishing and canoeing spot. It is indeed one of the oldest and best of its kind in the neighborhood.
Briscoe Western Art Museum is located on Market Street, in Downtown San Antonio. The museum, named for one of the most beloved governors of Texas, Dolph Briscoe, boasts of an interesting collection of artworks typical to the Western regions of America. A part of the Public Library, the museum is home to several contemporary and historic pieces and artifacts, including some that date back to the time of the Spanish conquest of the 1800s!
