The historical center and heart of the city's Mexican culture, the square is the largest Mexican marketplace outside of Mexico. To get geared up for all your outdoor adventures, head to Bass Pro Shop. This huge store has everything you need to fish, hike, and hunt: apparel for men and women, fishing poles, ATVs, and more. If you work up an appetite wandering through the displays of taxidermy animals and wilderness, the onsite restaurant serves tasty food that will satisfy your hunger.

La Villita Historic Arts Village

If you intend to spend a fun day with your family, La Villita, the historical arts village is just perfect for you. There are so many things to do that your day will end in no time. If you are an art freak, the galleries here will interest you, as well as the River Art Show in October. There are many restaurants so you can just pick one that suites your taste. A must visit for all guests is the church with beautiful stained glass windows and the museum in building nine. If you plan on taking some souvenirs back home, don't forget to visit the gift shops.

One of the largest flea markets in Texas, Traders Village is the favorite shopping destination for the locals. The market is also plays host to various events, concerts and celebrations. If you want to immerse yourself in the local culture, head to Traders Village and get ready to have a great time.

Half-Price Books Records Magazines (Alamo Heights)

This groovy little bookstore in Alamo Heights buys and sells books, magazines, CDs, LPs, tapes, videos and software. Everything is sold for at least half off the list price and the sale items practically define the word "bargain." The store has three other locations, but this one has a particularly nice selection of magazines. Not to be outdone by Borders or Barnes and Noble, Half-Price Books offers seating (the floor), background music (the latest CD they purchased) and free coffee. They also work with anti-illiteracy groups, sponsor a children's summer reading program and offer a home decorating program called "Books by the Yard."

Abercrombie Kids offers a collection of fashionable teen clothing and gears that are stylish yet high on quality, comfort and durability. They have huge lines of apparel for girls and boys alike.
