Stift Millstatt is a former monastery of the Benedictine order which was founded in the 11th Century. For hundreds of years it was considered a center for religion and culture in the upper regions of the Carinthian province. Now, only the monastery church is still active while the cloister of the monastery itself has been transformed into a museum. Along with displays of the Benedictine and Jesuit history of the monastery itself, it also has exhibits of artifacts dating back to the Neolithic Age and Bronze Age. There is a beer garden on the grounds of the former monastery where you can get refreshments.

With an ivory facade, tall towers, and bright, turquoise-shingled roof, Schloss Heroldeck is an architectural achievement of the early 20th century. Once serving as an industrialist's home, the castle was used by the Third Reich and eventually the Allies during World War 2. Today, it serves as a scenic retreat center for visitors.

Stiftsmuseum Millstatt is an interesting museum situated within the expansive, Romanesque cloister of Millstatt Abbey. Within this museum, visitors get acquainted with the abbey's rich history and its influence around the region. It also features exhibits based on mining in Upper Carinthia, adding diversity in its offering.
