If there's one drink that goes wonderfully with French food, it's wine. This is a terrific restaurant which serves a variation of French and Japanese dishes with a selection of wines from various countries. Try their foie gras don, which consists of foie gras served over rice and sprinkled with green onions and ginger - it's a real knockout. Completing the experience is the elegant atmosphere and decor, which is distinctly French in flavor.

Han No Daidokoro Dogenzaka

Han No Daidokoro Dogenzaka in vibrant Shibuya specializes in Korean barbecue. The casual restaurant specializes in beef and serves premium Japanese cuts of meat, including regional varieties; the Yamagata beef is a hot favorite here. The concept is simple - diners are served slices of beef which are then cooked at the table on a searing hot grill fired with coal. Opt for the set menu that comes with complimentary salad, sides, soup, and drinks. The staff are friendly and make you feel right at home. Most servers also speak English which is an added bonus for tourists.

Ajanta

One of the first Indian restaurants in Tokyo, Ajanta has been going strong since 1954. Located right next to the Nihon Television complex and directly opposite Kojimachi subway, this popular establishment is open throughout the year. An even better reason for coming here, however, is the food, which is first class. Boasting a great selection of curries, tandoori dishes, and South Indian specialties, six-course sets are also offered, including three vegetarian sets. The ambiance is reflective of Indian culture with vibrant colors and lighting, with brick-exposed walls adding a classy touch. Definitely a place worth visiting if you enjoy exploring new, flavorful cuisine.

Fire House

Fire House is one of the go-to places in Tokyo if you are craving some hearty burgers. With the board outside the restaurant tempting passers-by with listings of sandwiches, burgers and coffee, the fast food place definitely comes up to the mark on all three. However, it is mainly the burger list which draws in most diners. Along with delicious patties, the burgers come with a variety of toppings including cheese, eggs, bacon and chili. The ambiance here is surprisingly cozy for a fast food place, with wood floors and furniture, pictures on the walls and a bookshelf filled with interesting titles and nick-nacks. All in all, this is a great place to catch up with a friend or even go for a dinner date.

Maisen

Hailed by many for its delicious tonkatsu, or deep fried pork, Maisen is an affordable restaurant with quality food. Most of the menus are fixed, where the tonkatsu set consists of fried pork, cabbage, miso soup, and rice, and other options are available as well. The restaurant is located in a former bathhouse and the building still maintains much of its original charm. With its crisp yet tender tonkatsu, Maisen is a popular dining choice and there might be a wait. Luckily, there is a sandwich stand outside where hungry patrons can grab a pork sandwich.

Aux Bacchanales Kioicho

Aux Bacchanales Kioicho is one of a chain of three French-style cafe restaurants in Tokyo, but it is the one with the prettiest view. It is across from a park full of cherry trees, which blossom in late March, ensuring excited sightseers crowding the restaurant in spring. The decor is impeccably French - the interior is light and airy and busy waiters rush past the long zinc bar. The menu is also of a high standard - if you just want a snack, try one of the 70 varieties of bread on sale in the bakery accompanied with a cup of strong espresso, or if you're in the mood for something a little more substantial, go for the generously portioned steak frites (and be sure to accompany it with a glass of Belgian ale).
