Bogor Zoology Museum
"Walk with Whales and Dragons"
The Bogor Zoology Museum contains a large number of preserved specimens of fauna. With about 2580000 specimens of insects, 30000 specimens of mammals, 30752 specimens of poultry and so on, they have one of the largest specimen collections in South East Asia. They also have a Blue Whale skeleton which is the largest of its kind. In 1984, it was set up within the Bogor Botanical Garden as a lab for insects that were pests for plants. As time went on, the founder started collections of animal specimen for conducting research, and in 1906 it got its designation as a museum.
