The Van Vorst Park is a historic neighborhood of Jersey City, located in the Downtown area. Named after a prominent family of early settlers here, the Van Vorst Park was also home to Cornelius Van Vorst, the 12th mayor of the city. Comprising of old buildings and row-houses from the late 1800s, the neighborhood is of great historic significance. Many of the streets in the area are named after war heroes and leaders of the Revolutionary War. The Van Vorst Park neighborhood comprises of approximately 77 acres (31 hectares) of land.
