Named after Australia's tallest peak, Kosciuszko National Park is nestled in the Snowy Mountains on the border between New South Wales and Victoria. It is classified as a National Heritage Site because of its remarkable natural features, including the Snowy, Murray, and Gungarlin Rivers and the Jagungal, Townsend, and Bimberi Peaks. The park's geographical features and alpine climate provide important habitats for a variety of species. Among its most prized inhabitants are the corroboree frog, Australia's most-endangered animal, and an abundance of wild horses. Believe it or not, under the blue waters of Lake Jindabyne lie the ruins of the original township of Jindabyne. It was flooded during the building of the giant Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric scheme in the 1950s. Before flooding, most of the homes were packed onto trucks and moved but there is a lot of history to be witnessed at the various dive sites which is around 20 meters below. All dives are from a boat available to rent from the Snowline Caravan Park. There are boat on hire also, on hire are air fills for the diving cylinders.
