Kauai Historic County Building


"Historic Building in Lihue"

Located along Rice Street in the very heart of Lihue, the Kauai Historic County Building was originally opened in 1913. The government building has the distinction of being the oldest operating government building in the state. The exterior is done in a classical revival style and was carefully restored in 2011. The windows and plumbing were replaced and the exterior was given a fresh coat of paint. The building National and State Registers of Historic Places in 1981. Today the building still offers an abundance of city services and is open to visitors. Metered street parking is plentiful in the area. - Lottie Tagupa
