Silver City Ghost Town was a settlement for gold miners in the Kern Valley area during the 1960’s to 1970’s. It was abandoned after gold was completely extracted from the region. Today, this site is run as a museum by a local historian J. Paul Corlew who also owns this place since 1990. Around 20 buildings can be found here, including a jail, a saloon, a country store, miner’s cabins, post office, and more. It has also been used as a location in many television and film productions. Often regarded as haunted, the complex provides a great opportunity to know more about the rich mining history of the Kern Valley.
