"Ghost Town of Ukraine"
Drenched in an eerily calm vibe, the abandoned town of Pripyat reads out one of the dark chapters from Soviet Union’s history. Established as a nuclear city in the year 1970, Pripyat takes its name from the river that flows nearby. Built with the purpose to serve the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant, the city was of great significance from the point of view of military operations and scientific research. Roads dotted with bustling factories, cinema halls and amusement parks now lie lifeless and barren. Evacuated after the Chernobyl tragedy, the city that once was abuzz with sounds of life now shelters vacant buildings and deserted roads. A contrast to the metropolitan vibe of Ukraine's other cities, the silent city of Pripyat still echoes of its gloomy past.
