The Literary Memorial Museum of Mikhail Bulgakov settles down in house number 13 on Andreevsky Uzviz. The exhibit opened its doors on May 15, 1991, and contains an impressive 3000 exhibits of the Russian writer's original belongings like books, photos, postcards and many more items. A visit to the museum will give you a sense of the various stages of Bulgakov's life, from being a pupil, student of medicine, family doctor to eventually, a writer.
The idea to establish a museum of wax figures in Kiev appeared after its founders familiarized with exposition of London museum branch in Amsterdam. After this they questioned themselves - if there are such museums in Moscow and Saint Petersburg why not to create one in the capital of Ukraine. Nowadays the exposition consists of more than 60 figures.
At the beginning of the history of the National Art Museum of Ukraine, there was hardly any concept of Ukrainian professional art. Ukraine was always famous for its national ethnographical applied art. The founders of the museum's collections decided to prove that this opinion was wrong and defined the list of main representatives of Ukrainian fine art. Found here is an icon relief of St. George. Apart from that, the museum is also home to artworks of artists such as Vasiliy Yermilov, Alexander Bogomazov, Ilya Shtilman, Mykola Pymonenko, David Burliuk, Vadim Meller, Victor Palmov, Kliment Red'ko, Kazimir Malevich and many more.
The State Museum of Theater, Music and Cinema, founded in 1923 by the artistic union "Berezil", is the only museum of this kind in Ukraine. The museum's collections feature unique exhibits of theater, music and cinema history. The collections were started in 1923 and became a basis for the scientific research and the documentation of cultural history of Ukraine.
The open-air museum is set on 150 hectares (370 acres) of picturesque terrain on the south-western outskirts of Kiev. It has over 200 structures moved here from various regions of Ukraine or reconstructed on the spot. The museum has some 40,000 ethnographic exhibits, including folk costumes, fabrics, embroidery, carpets, ceramics, articles of metal, wood, glassware, musical instruments, paintings, tools, household articles and the like. These objects are exhibited both inside the cottages and other farm buildings and in the permanent exhibition halls. The museum organizes craft days from May to November, when visitors can see blacksmiths, potters, coopers, weavers, carpet makers and other craftsmen at work. A unique place, which makes you feel as if you were living in the 18th-19th Century!
