"Historic House"

The Rockingham House holds high significant value when it comes to American History. The house is said to have been built in the early 18th Century and was resided by John Berrien I and his family till it was sold in 1802 by his widow. With the near end of the American Revolutionary War, George Washington the first president of the United States stayed at the house from August 1783 to November the same year on the invitation of the Congress. Over the years the house has been extensively expanded till it finally came under the ownership of the Rocky Hill Quarry Company. From the 19th Century, the house has moved a lot till the early 21st Century. Today it is run as a historic site where a number of tourists visit the house to revisit the historical events and engage in the various events organised by the association.
