Situated right along the gently flowing Rhine river, Schloss Neuwied stands out with its bright colors, and its open, three wing complex. Always a home for the nobility since its initial construction in 1706, it currently houses the Wied royal family. The massive expanse of the park, however, is freely accessible, and the impressive visage of the castle can be seen from a long distance.
There was initially a large hospital and church here, which was eventually destroyed in the Palatinate War in the 17th century. The choir of the original church was then turned into this beautiful chapel, and was given a Baroque renovation. The domed roof and massive windows are a sight to behold, making Wernerkapelle worth a visit.
Situated on the banks of the Rhine river, Boppard is a German town replete with history. Evidence found by archaeologist and historians suggests that humans have settled here for more than 13,000 years. This is where the best preserved remains of a Roman fort in Germany were discovered during the year 2009. Of great historical and cultural significance, Boppard attracts thousands of tourists from across the globe every year.
