"Record-breaking Globe"
The small town of Königsbrunn, sitting on the banks of the Lech river, was founded in the mid-19th Century, although traces of settlement in the area date back much farther to 2300 BCE. Despite this, there are no visible traces of ancient history in the town, with its oldest edifice, the Neuhaus, dating back to 1688. Mercateum, a gigantic globe based on historical maps, containing a museum, is one of the largest in the world, and the city's claim to fame. A handful of other museums complete the town's cultural landscape.
