Köniz

Located in the administrative district of Bern Mittelland in Bern canton, Köniz municipality spans across the beautiful Aare river to its north-east to the Sense and Schwarzwasser rivers to its southeast. Apart from the hamlets of Wabern and Köniz, the municipality comprises garden settlements of Könizberg and Liebefeld. The history of the municipality dates back to the Iron Age and Bronze Age. Roman farmhouses, ancient churches, castles and some other historical attractions of Köniz are categorized as heritage sites of national significance.
