Buffavento Castle

Nestled in the Kyrenia Mountains, Buffavento Castle is a medieval castle that was built as a security measure against possible Arab invasions. It is named after the high-speed winds that bellow at its chambers. The structure is built out of the mountain and hence has an irregular shape. In the 14th Century, it served as a prison. The castle is easily accessible on foot, however, remember to carry a bottle of water and good footwear. The climb is steep and provides sweeping views of the surrounding areas.
