"Religious centre and historic building"

Built in 1892 at a cost of 3,000 pounds, the mosque was constructed by a Brazilian though financed by a wealthy Nigerian merchant. The mosque has attractive tile-work depicting the Brazilian architecture and remains an outstanding masterpiece with exquisite interior and exterior decorations in place.

Though smaller than the Central Mosque situated close by, this mosque forms a popular site for visitors. It is advisable not to take cars into the area which can become quite congested from human and vehicle traffic.
