Designated as a national park in the year 1954, Caldera de Taburiente National Park is centrally located in La Palma. Covering an area of 46.9 square kilometers (18.10 square miles), the park comprises a dense cover of Canary pine plantations, waterfalls, freshwater streams and springs apart from stunning rock formations. Hiking trails in the park make it a popular destination among walkers and hikers. Caldera de Taburiente, a mighty crater, remains the major attraction of Caldera de Taburiente National Park. As one explores the beautiful landscape, it is easy to notice that erosion is slowly taking its toll on the park's rugged yet still character.
