Leicester Guildhall

Formerly serving as a meeting center for the Guild of Corpus Christi, the Guildhall is a grandiose archaic edifice that has been standing in central Leicester since 1390. Since then, this magnificent building has been the meeting place for several organizations including the City Council. The Guildhall has also been serving as the city's prime events center. It plays host to a myriad of events including theatrical performances, concerts, local events, banquets, weddings and receptions. This rustic building is also home to a small museum which is a must-visit for those looking to learn in-detail regarding the history of this building and the city of Leicester in whole.

Leicester Cathedral (Cathedral of St. Martin)

The Leicester Cathedral in Leicester is one of the oldest Anglican churches in the country. This church is solely dedicated to St. Martin and therefore is also called The Cathedral Church of Saint Martin. From the records, the cathedral is to have been built in 1086. Inside the church is the tomb of Richard III of England who reigned in the 15th Century on which his crown has been laid. The windows have stained glass panels depicting the many royals in England in the Middle Ages. Visitors usually marvel the building for its detailed Gothic architecture style.

Elvaston Castle

Elvaston Castle is a beautiful 15th-century castle with mesmerizing parks and is spread across 321 acres open parkland. If you are visiting the city do not miss out on this beautiful piece of art. The entrance to the park is free.

Derby Cathedral

This 14th Century monumental church is a prominent Christian center and is the abode of the Bishop of Derby. The church although carrying the weight of its past glory has been brilliantly reformed to accommodate the needs of contemporary life and is now a popular religious sight. Kelmarsh Hall

Kelmarsh Hall is the spectacular country house in Northampton built for renowned antiquarian William Hanbury. The Kelmarsh Estate is managed by a charitable trust which regularly conducts events in the garden of the house. This lavish mansion is open for guided tours on Thursdays and on Bank Holiday Sundays and Mondays.

Thrumpton Hall

Thrumpton Hall, located in the village of the same name, is a 17th-century house with rich culture and history attached to it. The 17th-century house contains parts of an older house that was built on the same site. The house was initially owned by the Pigot family but was later passed on to the Byron family, the descendants of famous poet, Lord Byron. The house boasts of a lot of historical elements, like the medieval kitchen, a notable staircase, portraits and works of Lord Byron. Presently the house is available for weddings and conferences though it is privately owned.
