Found near the village of Preston-under-Scar in the county of North Yorkshire, Bolton Hall is a mansion that dates back to the 17th Century. The three-floored structure was constructed with roughcast brick and ashlar dressing, and roofed with hipped slate. The hall is built upon lands that once formed the demesne of the Bolton Castle, which was owned by the Scropes during medieval times and passed through marriage to the Paulets, who later became Powletts. In 1902, the mansion was destroyed in a fire and had to be rebuilt.
