"Porcelain Town"
Known as a quintessential Thuringian forest village, Lichte is a part of the fertile Lichte river valley. Owing to its verdant location, Lichte is a lovely spot to take in vistas of nature and forest landscapes. Apart from its wooded areas, Lichte is also considered one of the centers of porcelain manufacturing in Germany. It is home to the Wallendorf Porcelain Manufacturing Co., deemed one of the oldest of its kind in Europe. Every year, on the last weekend in July, it hosts a Porcelain market, where the coronation of a Porcelain Princess also takes place. Besides this, Lichte is also known for the 18th-century Elisabeth Church.
