This establishment was mentioned as a confectioner's shop in the Lille commercial registers back in 1761. And In 1839, the decorator Huidiez, the painter Stalars and the architect Benvignat transformed it into a sweet-shop of bygone days. Glittering mirrors, ornaments, moldings, carved doors and balconies make this confectioner's a pleasure to the eyes. Monsieur Meert, who took over from Monsieur Rollez in 1849, obtained authorization in 1864, to declare his shop the official supplier to His Majesty, the King of Belgium.
