Lisbon Zoo

The Lisbon Zoo is one of the jewels of the city, having been in existence for more than 100 years. Little by little, the traditional aspects of the zoo are being supported by the latest technology, which is in place to help protect endangered species. There are a wide variety of species on show, and the beautiful greenery surrounding the area provides the perfect backdrop for a nice walk. Check for varying dates.

Portugal's National Stadium

Also known as Estádio do Jamor, the National Stadium in Portugal is housed within the Jamor Sports Complex. This historic stadium which is owned by the Portuguese Football Federation has hosted several games, including the Portuguese Cup in the last several decades. Designed by architect Miguel Jacobetty Rosa, the stadium is especially known for its open east side, an unheard of phenomenon for a ground with an oval layout. The National Stadium is also known to host large scale concerts in its premises - for instance, The Police performed here during their reunion tour, while the Black Eyed Peas performed here in 2010.

Belém Cultural Center

The Centro Cultural de Belém is a majestic building that rises up in the heart of the Belém district. The building was designed by Vitorio Gregotti and Manuel Salgado, and the interior was created by Daciano Costa. The center is divided into four large areas, the meeting area, the show area, the exhibition area, and an area which focuses on the art of animation and the teaching of art. Jardim Mário Soares

This garden is a perfect escape for the tired tourist who wants to catch their breath from a busy day of sightseeing. It is a historical garden that dates back to CE 1800. Campo Grande also has a lake where boat rides are still available; a relaxing and enjoyable way to pass the time. There is a restaurant and cafe along with a shopping mall too. Children can also enjoy themselves in the playground. The garden holds cultural events too.

Clube de Fado

Situated a short walk away from Lisbon Cathedral, Clube de Fado gives you the chance to sample authentic Portuguese cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere. At this restaurant and bar, you can enjoy scrumptious dishes like monkfish and prawn rice, Alentejo-style pork, braised octopus, complemented by a good wine list. There are also some interesting cocktails to be had. The live acoustic performances ensure that there is never a dull moment.

Politeama National Theater

The Politeama National Theater, better known as the Teatro Politeama, is one of the most significant historic venues in the city. Originally built in 1913, the theater currently boasts a recently renovated facade, while still retaining the historic charm of yore. The Politeama National Theater manages to pull major crowds for its grand, Broadway-inspired musical, majorly productions by celebrated director Filipe La Féria.
