The Switch House by Tate Modern
"A Homage to Live Art"
The Switch House towers 10-stories over the Bankside, adding a unique twist - literally - to London's skyline. The brick and glass structure is shaped like a spiraling pyramid and houses some of the Tate Modern's massive collection. It is also heralded as one of the first spaces in the world dedicated to live art. Visitors to this section of the museum can wander through massive industrial spaces designed by Herzog & de Meuron in which live performances of modern art take place. Not to be missed is Level 10, the top floor of the structure that offers panoramic views of the London skyline, the Thames and the surrounding area. Visitors who are in the area at night should stop by to witness the illuminated lattice structure, which is sure to be a highlight of any trip to the Southwark area.
