The Bentley Priory Nature reserve located in the London Borough of Harrow is a 135 acre (54.6 hectares) wide natural reserve. It has meadows, grasslands, woods, streams, ponds and an artificial lake. There is even a private deer park open to visitors which forms the main attraction of the reserve. Since it a part of it is privately owned, some areas and the gardens are restricted to the public. It is a natural habitat for a wide range of plant life like the common bent, red fescue, Yorkshire fog, greater burnet, great burnet and spotted orchid. Birds like the buzzard, spotted flycatcher, and bullfinch have also been spotted in the park. It is a great natural gate away for locals and tourists alike.
Epping Forest - London's largest open space - is an extremely old woodland, and was formerly a royal forest. The practice of pollarding has been observed here, because of which, a beautiful green canopy of trees has gradually developed, and is a sight to behold. This place is mostly urbanised, and allows biking, horse riding, orienteering and rambling. The forest has been used as a filming location several times, and the most memorable film shot here is Monty Python and The Holy Grail.
Beckenham Crematorium and Cemetery is a quiet, tranquil cemetery stretching over 12 hectares(0.12 square kilometers) of lush green landscapes. An ideal final resting place for the departed, this cemetery was established in 1956. The site features a quaint chapel designed in the distinctive Gothic architectural style, a dome shaped structure holding the Book of Remembrance, and a strikingly beautiful waterscape. This crematorium also features several graves belonging to the soldiers who lost their lives owing to the cataclysmic First World War, as well as burials belonging to the members of Beckenham Auxiliary Fire Service.
The Local Nature Reserve of Dacres Wood is located in the London Borough of Lewisham. This natural region is quite small yet extremely beautiful. Under the care of Lewisham Council, the region is the remains of the once flourishing Croydon Canal. The woodland is primarily a patch of wetland with many ponds. Dacres Wood can be easily accessed via foot and visitors can easily spot the beautiful varieties of butterflies flooding the region. Entry to the region is, however, restricted.
Located on the sprawling Regent's Park, the Hub is a multi-purpose facility for various events. Primarily a sports complex, the Hub has a range of pitches for softball, lacrosse, football etc. The complex's circular, gazebo-like cafe offers spectacular views of the park and is ideal for an after-game coffee. The entire facility can be hired for private events.
