"George Washington Was Here"
Constructed in 1697 and at one time housed the British Army during the Revolutionary War, The Sagtikos Manor is a historical gem. Its picturesque landscaping and old world charm is certainly a huge draw to this restored mansion, not to mention that President George Washington once stayed here on a visit to Long Island in 1790. On the grounds there is a historical cemetery, carriage house, walled garden and of course, the manor. Tours are regularly given in the summer months, check the website for more details.
