Part of the Rhine Gorge World Heritage Site, Lorch am Rhein is a quiet little town in Hesse, Germany. The charming town is replete with wonderful scenery due to its location at the mouth of the River Wisper and its sprawling vineyards which provide several interesting photography opportunities. The streets of the village are filled with numerous architecturally-fascinating buildings such as The Strunk – a former prison, a leprosy house dedicated to the welfare of lepers called Leprosenhaus and the famous ‘Witches Tower’ dating back to the Middle Ages. The extremely devout and predominantly Catholic town is also home to a beautiful 14th-century parish church dedicated to St Martin.
